Der Song Weird World entstand kurz nach dem Release des Albums Cape God, im ersten Sommer der Corona Zeit, als die Welt durch die Schutzmaßnahmen zum Stillstand kam. Die Ungewissheit und die neue ungewöhnliche Form ihres Lebens inspirierte Allie X dazu, tiefer zu gehen und sich ihren eigenen Ängsten zu stellen. Passend dazu, hieß der erste Entwurf des Songs Save Yourself, welchen sie bereits auf ihrem Instagram Account mit den Fans geteilt hat. Während Allie X ihre Songs meist mit Brabbeln startet, hört man in diesem Entwurf schon erste Zeilen, die später dann auf Deutsch eingesungen wurden. Je tiefer sie sich in der Produktion des Songs verlierte, umso sicherer wurde sie schließlich, dass sie auch den Rest der Songs von ihrem aktuellen Album Girl With No Face vollständig selbst produzieren möchte. Als sie das Album zusammen mit Justin Meldal-Johnsen fertig stellte, fügten sie an das Ende von Weird World noch die Akustikgitarre hinzu, die auch perfekt zum Video passte. Der Song eröffnet nicht grundlos das Album: Allie X erwähnte in einem Interview, dass es der Song war, der sie motiviert hielt, während sie jeden Morgen erneut aufstand und sich allein durch die Wave- und Synthesizer Produktion der Songs kämpfte. Sie nennt den Song deswegen ihren „Flagship Song“. Das Album Girl With No Face erschien am 23. Februar 2024.
