Gemeinsam mit Bands wie Touché Amoré oder La Dispute gehören Pianos Become The Teeth zu den Bands, die The Wave begründeten. Eine neue Welle des Post-Hardcore, die sich durch Stil und Ideologie ähnelt und vom bisherigen Bild des Genres löste. Schon mit dem vorletzten Album „Wait For Love“ erweiterte die Band ihren musikalischen Horizont und löste sich von einigen eher brachialen Elementen, so dass sich ihr Sound nun eher im Post-Rock einordnen lässt. Das jüngst erschienene Album „Drift“ führt diesen Trend fort, aus diesem stammt auch „Genevieve“.
