Wenn schon eine Simone Simons eine Augenweide ist, wie ist das dann erst, wenn sie zusammen mit Charlotte Wessels und Myrkur ein Video zusammen dreht? Die Niederländer Epica präsentieren mit dem Video zu „Sirens – Of Blood And Water“ ihr neues Album „The Alchemy Project“, das keine Wünsche offen lässt. Simone Simons kommentiert den Song und die Kollaboration:
„Charlotte und ich kennen uns schon seit Jahren, aber wir haben nie wirklich zusammen Musik geschrieben bisher. Seit sie anfing, ihre Solo-Songs zu veröffentlichen, bin ich ein großer Bewunderer ihrer Arbeit und wandte mich deshalb an sie, um einen Song für ‚The Alchemy Project‘ zu schreiben. Aus dieser Zusammenarbeit entstand das eindringliche Lied ‚Sirens – Of Blood And Water‘. Wir beide haben eine Faszination für Meerjungfrauen, das Märchen von H.C. Andersen, und wollten ein Lied aus der Perspektive der Schwestern der kleinen Meerjungfrau schreiben. Ich fand es toll, wie unsere beiden kreativen Köpfe in dem Song zusammenflossen, und als dann auch Myrkur (die zufälligerweise Dänin ist, genau wie der Author des Märchens) zustimmte, dem Song ihre einzigartige Stimme zu verleihen, hatten wir die perfekte Ergänzung, die wir brauchten, um die Geschichte zu vervollständigen.“
